Film Study: Michigan Duo and Counter Iso vs D Focus on Stopping Interior Run

A recent follow-up review - Michigan's crushing of the Florida defense - highlighted a few games that could benefit from greater depth.

In this article we will talk about Duo

And on ISO

Background
In that game, Michigan struggled to allow a quick DL entry. This penetration is worse on the right side of the OL, especially than DT or DE with 3 techniques to 7 techniques and post-5 techniques.

This game is an off-season game that everyone seems to have written about (I'll link to some at the bottom of this section). It has the power not to attract ag. It doubles in two places through OL, including the point of attack, and when Mike's breeder falls, it hits FB EMOL (if it falls, the breeder jumps). This particular game was enriched with the MIKE release, as RG and RT did not receive double upgrades. If any of these are on MIKE, it's safe to do so with the RBC FB for mowing or climbing grass.

James Light (post; follow on Twitter, follow the good X and O) posted several clips, including Michigan.

In fact, James Light explained the difference between Iso and Duo back then.

With some examples iso

And example two

(In this case, the "leader" driving the EMOL H-back and leading the FB-LB game are two games.

Zach Forest was one of the driving forces behind the discussion. Their messages here are mostly focused on the newer versions.

That includes former NFL goalkeeper Geoff Schwartz (a good follower on OL Twitter) if you want to learn more (I think his other main focus is the game's main driver).

ISO Counter

This game is not an iso as many people know, although it has one important difference. On the ISO FB game side, LB separates the LB, but here it blocks the back LB and closes the direction the Arabic will go first. This is the proposed reduction, known as "Iso Counter" or "Lead Counter" or "BOB" or "Blast" (or a million other names).

Like Iso (and unlike Duo), you rely solely on Duo, and in this case Duo doesn't even need a lot of vertical movement. Here LG and C double the NT with the LG combination to get into the game (in this case the gaming side is the first side of the RB) LB. Whereas FB is working through LOS to get LB back. The OL side scores the defensive side of the game, the OL back side scores the DL back. With the exception of Anti, DL, if you want to get in, it comes from fast racing games.

I will take you step by step in this particular game because I didn't get much in this game.

Florida DTs came in strong before the holidays. In DE Tech 5, the inside is stapled and glued to the edge of the Sam.

WR is working and CB warns safety in possible cracked block. This is done to get SAM to break the crap out of the game and get them out of the game. UF calls it but doesn't touch it properly and monitors it properly in CB (looks for cracked switch) and allows WR to run safely on start (limits last free defender.) Game; But Arbi Vs. CB is not the worst choice in space).

Now notice which QB is out of pocket. RBO goes like this (towards a weak structure). This, along with a double increase in attack area, results in a weak internal environment. But then consider the coin inversion. They don't block any area. They do not duplicate, do not work in the second level, do not touch zones, block transmission. Tech 3 has been hacked, allowing the RG TD to leave the game and be buried. RT and TE defenders both lined up outside of them.

Transfer draws LB into the game It might have a favorable angle to play LG (for those who pretended to double during the pre-release raid) and try to score LB. This is a planned reduction. LG couldn't get out in time to defend his ban and was a little annoyed, but it forced LB to run up to him and force him out of the game in a good way.

What I still want to understand about this is the layout of the FB headset. He pinned his head into the back of the pound to close it. When this LB is playing, FB uses its speed to mute and teach Arabic.

Eventually SAM comes off the block with a TE (TE puts Sam's hand in it, which makes it easier to get out of construction) and CB goes down to deal with the problem, but not before he's got an 8+ yard threat.

Why these two games?
First binary. The idea here is that you get a double team during an attack and the combination of two blockers in Technique 3 can limit penetration. They did, but neither of them made it to the second level, which usually limits the game. (They both wanted to double because they weren't pushed.) The other side, UF, played for an indoor run but returned the game for lack of efficiency. Duo is a great racing game that lets you create a team focused on destroying internal races. It didn't work in this case, but you can see it running smoothly in the game.

So you can now use Surveillance Over Counter ISO. Once the DLL behind the game is corrupted, it will immerse itself in the game design. Similarly, OL should not think about making secondary combinations, instead focus on one game and only focus on not letting DL wipe his face, everything else is gold. This game will reduce some of UF's lead on the right-hand side of OL Michigan. I especially like this game because the relay seems to move faster in the opposite direction. The result, of course, forced the defense to respond, but that response prepared a corner for the big game.
